La Chaux-de-Fonds Town Crest, watercolour on A4 paper. Autumn 2018.
“La Chaux-de-Fonds has a reputation as a busy, industrial hub. This has been reflected in the town’s adoption of the honeybee and beehive as some of its heraldic symbols. As a result you can find many decorative honeybees hidden around the town. For this painting I wanted to stick closely to the official design, but added swirling filligree to the blue background, referencing the wrought iron which decorates doors and balconies here.”
